Registration is now open for the second session of the 2016 Firewise

Communities Ask an Expert Virtual Workshop series on Tuesday, August 16  at 1pm MDT. This month’s Get to Know the Home Ignition Zone presenter is Gary Marshall, with NFPA’s Wildland Fire Division. The July “Power of Embers” workshop received great feedback and had 212 registrants.

Each workshop provides a conference quality, free learning opportunity with leading researchers and practitioners in an interactive format. Every session closes with a fifteen minute live Q & A with the topic’s guest presenter. Hey all, a reminder to send your fire mitigation hours to Toni  (email niswongert (at) aol (dot) com).  These hours count towards grant money we get, which can pay for things like the big chipper.  The more you do, the cheaper it is for us.  Personal time and community time both count, depending on the grant — just indicate which is which.  So please send her your 2016 hours to date.

Also, cash you spend on things like chainsaws and brushhogs also count. Sometimes the matching is 2:1 or 1:1!  If you’re willing to report that to Toni also, it helps too!
